LINE UPGRADE TORINO - PADOVA
The technological upgrade of the line, strategic because it is within the European corridor D Lisbon-Kiev, involved a large part of the station and line signalling systems and the integration of some recently built systems, in addition to the creation of a supervision system for the centralised management of circulation and integrated diagnostics.
...
The intervention allowed to improve the overall system performance of the route, obtaining the maximum levels of potential, centralizing and coordinating the two main activities of the circulation system, such as the Control of the train movement and the Maintenance of the lines.
Tesifer supported the contractor of the contract for the technological enhancement of the conventional lines on the Torino - Padova route, in the definitive design of the new ACC-M systems and in the definitive and executive detailed design of the SCMT system.
HIGH SPEED FIRENZE - ROMA
The upgrade of the line, which was born over 40 years ago and which today is once again one of the most advanced European railway systems, includes the adoption of the ACCM standard for track control, the interoperable European standard ERTMS|ETCS for the spacing of trains without light signals and the most advanced version of the SSCM for traffic control, traffic regulation and diagnostic management.
...
The project area extends between the PM of Rovezzano and the PC of Settebagni, including the sections pertaining to the new plants.
Te.Si.Fer. supported the contractor of the technological upgrade contract for the Direttissima Firenze - Roma railway line, in the executive design of the SCMT system, in the commissioning of the systems as well as providing assistance for the Test Runs.
METRO GLASGOW
The project is a brownfield-type project, that means on an existing network; the Glasgow underground network is made up of two rings of approximately 10 km each and includes 15 stations with an underground level and an external level, 5 external substations and an external depot.
...
The upgrade involved the migration of all systems from a traditional driver-operated system to a fully automatic CBTC system, involving the ATS (Automatic Train Supervision), ATP (Automatic Train Protection), ATO (Automatic Train Operation) and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) subsystems.
Te.Si.Fer. supported the contractor for the “Signalling and Control System, Control Room and Associated Equipment for the Glasgow Subway” contract in the Installation design activity, coordinating the design of all subsystems, verifying their congruence and producing the construction tables.
GALLERIA DI BASE DEL BRENNERO
The project includes both an Austrian design lot and an Italian design lot.
The new Brenner Base Tunnel forms the central part of the TEN 1 Berlin-Verona / Milano-Bologna-Napoli-Messina-Palermo rail corridor and together with the Innsbruck bypass, with a total length of 63 km, is the longest railway tunnel in the world.
...
The new line will be equipped to perform AV-AC services and facilitate interoperability between the networks involved.
Te.Si.Fer. supported the contractor for the design of the Cross-Border System for the Brenner Base Tunnel, providing consultancy on the sizing of the signalling and telecommunications systems as well as the Light and Motive Power and Electric Traction systems.
IEC EASY STATION
The design of new systems deals with the sizing of video peripherals, of the QE dedicated to the distribution of power lines serving the system, of the power and data lines between the devices, of the air conditioning, intrusion and fire systems.
...
The projects were partly carried out experimentally in BIM mode.
The surveys were carried out with laser scanners and the modelling in Revit with LOD 500 detail. The electrical design was done with software such as ElettriCAD 2018 and Project 6.
Te.Si.Fer. supported the contractor in the construction design and implementation of the new IeC public information and communications system, on various systems of the Italian Railway Network.
ETHIAD RAIL
The Etihad Rail Stage 2 project was created to serve a freight traffic destined to grow from the current 7 million tonnes to more than 50 million and includes the construction of a new freight line,
...
With a length of 605 kilometers long, it will connect the port of Fujairah, in the United Arab Emirates, to the border of Saudi Arabia and which will interconnect with the other recently built freight line between the cities of Shah and Habshan and the port of Ruwais.
The line, which will also be equipped with a view to future passenger traffic, will see the installation of a modern signaling system (with ETCS Level 2 technology), as well as telecommunication systems, power systems and central posts at Al Faya and Al Mirfa.
Te.Si.Fer. collaborated in the project on the BIM design of the Asset Protection Systems for monitoring the infrastructure and rolling stock.
Numerous monitoring systems such as Hot Axle Detection, Dragging Equipment Device or Multifunctional Portals were modeled in BIM in a complete way with assignment of the Asset Codes, creation of the cabinet risers, in-line tooling and verification with clash detection.
SAFE IS
SAFE IS is a file storage and search software developed to meet the needs required by RFI.
...
The structure of the document management is designed to conform to the nomenclature of the railway environment: the main purpose is to optimize and manage a large amount of data during the design phase.
Each document is archived by reading its content and its metadata through specific rules that can be set by the user through specific interfaces.
Additional functions have also been created with respect to archiving, such as:
- Preview of an archived document without the need of third party software
- Automatic generation of PDF files
- Printing of files (DWG included)
RailCAD
A fast and adaptable CAD solution based on the most used CAD formats (DWG, DXF, FGN).
...
Some specific features for railway design have been integrated, such as:
- Routing: Automatic creation of cable routes, through logical and physical connections of the entities.
- Analysis of tunnel sections Analysis and verification of the impact of the train shape on the tunnel ducts and systems.
- FROM-TO generation Creation of entity-to-entity connections and generation of report and analysis documents.
- Estimated metric calculations Automatic generation of calculations through the interpolation of the Price Lists with the automatic counting of the entities.
- Formatting and Title Blocks Insertion in automatic title blocks and filling through predefined and coded formats.
SmartTrack
SmartTrack is a software solution that collects, digitizes and manages all railway information, simplifying and speeding up the current ERTMS SST configuration process.
...
The application has been developed to address the main challenges related to the design, installation and management of signalling systems, including the ERTSM system, by providing the customer with native digital data transcoded into a single format based on the European RailML® standard, whose main objective is to enable different railway applications to communicate with each other, provide infrastructure managers with a Data Management platform automatically populated with all the specific design and maintenance data of the ERTMS system needed for whole-life management, thus optimising future maintenance interventions on the line and on the SSTs, which represent a huge cost for the manager.
SmartTrack has been successfully tested on behalf of Hitachi Rail STS on 80km of the QR-Queensland Rail line in Australia and on approximately 250km of the Rome-Florence high-speed line.
At the EXPO Ferroviaria in Milan 2021, the application was awarded as the winner of the “DITECFER Railway Innovation Contest 2021” by the President of the Contest Jury, Prof. A. Fantechi, President of the School of Engineering of the University of Florence
